Tri-Star Koi Purchasing and Shipping Policy 

At Tri-Star Koi, we take immense pride in our commitment to delivering high-quality koi fish safely and securely. Our shipping procedures are carefully designed to ensure that your koi arrive in the best possible condition, and we strive to provide a seamless, professional experience every step of the way.

1. Shipping Method

Shipping Carrier:
Tri-Star Koi ships live fish via reliable carriers such as UPS Next Day Air. For orders exceeding $499, we also offer Air Cargo (Southwest Airlines and Delta Airlines) as an additional shipping option. We utilize only trusted and professional shipping methods to ensure the safe and timely arrival of your koi.

2. Live Arrival Guarantee

Guaranteed Live Arrival:
Tri-Star Koi guarantees that all fish will arrive alive and in good health, provided they are received within the designated delivery window and the customer inspects the fish immediately upon arrival.

Shipping Delays:
In the event of a shipping delay caused by weather, carrier issues, or other unforeseen circumstances, Tri-Star Koi will closely monitor the status of the package. Should any issues arise that impact the health or well-being of the koi, we will take appropriate action at our discretion, which may include issuing a refund or sending a replacement koi of equal or greater value. However, shipping costs WILL NOT be refunded, and replacement shipping fees will not be covered by Tri-Star Koi.

3. Shipping Schedule & Delivery Timing

Shipping Days:
Tri-Star Koi ships live koi Monday through Thursday. We do not ship on Fridays to prevent fish from being held in transit over the weekend.

Delivery Timing:
All live koi are shipped using UPS Next Day Air or Air Cargo (for orders over $499), ensuring that your koi arrive within 2 hours of shipment. This expedited shipping method minimizes stress and ensures prompt delivery.

4. Shipping Costs

Shipping Fees:
Shipping costs are based on the size of your order, the destination, and the chosen shipping method. Shipping fees will be calculated at checkout, with a detailed breakdown provided before finalizing your purchase.

5. Inspection and Acceptance

Customer Inspection:
Upon receiving your koi, we recommend that you inspect the fish immediately to ensure they are alive and in good health. You must inspect the fish within 2 hours of delivery. If you notice any issues, please contact Tri-Star Koi within this timeframe.

Photographic Evidence:
If there is a concern regarding the condition of the fish upon arrival, we may request photographic evidence for our records.

Responsibility After 2 Hours:
If no communication is received within the 2-hour window following delivery, Tri-Star Koi cannot assume responsibility for the condition of the fish after that time.

6. Post-Delivery Responsibility

Customer Care After Delivery:
While Tri-Star Koi guarantees the safe and healthy arrival of your koi, once the fish have been delivered and accepted by the customer, Tri-Star Koi assumes no further responsibility for the health or well-being of the fish. The customer is responsible for proper handling, water quality, and acclimation.

Quarantine:
We strongly recommend that all koi undergo a quarantine period before being introduced into an existing pond or aquarium. This practice helps prevent the spread of potential diseases and gives the fish time to acclimate to your specific water conditions.

7. Shipping Restrictions & Policies

Weather Conditions:
Tri-Star Koi may delay shipments during extreme weather conditions (e.g., snowstorms, hurricanes, or extreme heat) to ensure the health of your koi. We monitor weather patterns closely and will notify you if a shipment is postponed.

 

8. Customer Responsibilities

Accurate Shipping Information:
Please ensure that your shipping address is correct and up-to-date before placing your order. Tri-Star Koi is not responsible for delays or issues caused by incorrect or incomplete shipping information.

Receiving the Package:
It is essential that someone is available to receive the koi upon arrival. If the package is not received promptly, it could result in delays or temperature fluctuations that may harm the fish.

Advisable Quarantine Protocol:

To ensure the health and safety of your new koi, we strongly recommend that all fish be quarantined prior to introduction into an existing pond or aquarium. Quarantining your koi helps to prevent the spread of potential diseases and parasites, and allows the fish to acclimate to your water conditions.

Recommended Quarantine Protocol:

  • Duration: Quarantine for a minimum of 2-4 weeks in a separate tank or pond with proper filtration and aeration.

  • Water Quality: Maintain excellent water quality, checking parameters such as pH, ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. Ensure the water is free of contaminants and matches the conditions of your main pond as closely as possible.

  • Observation: Monitor the koi closely for signs of illness or distress, including abnormal behavior, lesions, or color changes. Address any concerns immediately.

  • Salt Treatment: We recommend adding 5 lbs of non-iodized salt per 100 gallons of water in the quarantine tank. This helps reduce stress, improves the koi's resilience, and supports the natural slime coat, which can reduce the risk of parasites.

  • Separate Equipment: Use separate nets, buckets, and tools for handling quarantined fish to avoid cross-contamination.

Quarantining your koi is essential to their health and to prevent introducing any potential diseases into your main pond or aquarium. Tri-Star Koi cannot be held responsible for any health issues that arise after fish are introduced into a new tank or pond without proper quarantine procedures.
